Islam is supposedly the religion of no compulsion (Quran 2:256), but can we say that this is true? Are women afforded those same liberties?
In the hadith, we learn that women are demanded to submit to men’s sexual desires without question, and whenever he desires. The woman does not have free will or choice in the matter. It is a decree of Allah.
“Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “If a man Invites his wife to sleep with him and she refuses to come to him, then the angels send their curses on her till morning” (Sahih al-Bukhari 5193)
“Talq bin Ali narrated that The Messenger of Allah said: “When a man calls his wife to fulfill his need, then let her come, even if she is at the oven” (Al-Tirmidhi 1160).
“No woman can fulfill her duty towards Allah until she fulfills her duty towards her husband. If he asks her (for intimacy) even if she is on her camel saddle, she should not refuse’ ” (Sunan al-Tirmidhi 1160; Musnad Ahmad 19028; Sunan ibn Majah 1853).
